💻 🍹 Ready for Friday? 🥤 💻

Greetings, First Friday Book Club members:  

Calie Willis from the Senior Recreation Center has prepared our virtual meeting codes for our call this Friday, June 5. (Thanks, Calie!!) Our meeting will start at 2 p.m., but you can log in a few minutes early to get situated , if you like Login at https://zoom.us/ Meeting ID is  814 6035 2070 Password is  759287 The instructions below look complicated, but this is actually a straight-forward process. If you use your phone to text or take photos, you can do this! Important note: Please do not share the above meeting code or password with anyone outside of our group. Definitely do NOT share it on FaceBook or any other social media. Calie will be running security during the call, so no one who has not been invited can attend - unless you give out the codes!

I'll be sending around some notes/questions on our books tomorrow (Tuesday) to kick off our discussions. Because we haven't met since April, we have several books to discuss:

• Our May reading was Less by Andrew Sean Greer. 

• (Alternate title was Good Omens by Gaiman and Pritchett)

• Our June reading is Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann 

• (Alternate title is Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz)

My plan is to see what everyone thought about "Less" and "Killers of the Flower Moon" and maybe compare/contrast the two books. We will "go around the circle" as usual and everyone will get a chance to say what they liked, what they didn't  - and why.

Talk to you soon! How to get the free Zoom app: To attend the call, you need the (free) Zoom app, on either your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop. There are two ways to get it:

• When you log in to the call on Friday, Zoom will install the app for you, while you wait. This can take a few minutes and you'll need to say "OK" when it asks you to install.

or

• You can download free Zoom app in advance here: https://zoom.us/download

Of course, you can uninstall the Zoom app after our call, if you don't want to keep it for other meetings.

How to connect to the call on Friday at 2 p.m: (from a tablet, phone, laptop or desktop computer) 1. Go to https://zoom.us/ 2. Look for a row of links that has JOIN A MEETING as a choice and click "Join a meeting" On my laptop,, this link is in the bar across the top of the screen, like this:

You might find that link in another location on your screen, depending on which device (tablet, phone) you are using, so scroll around. 3. When you click the Join a Meeting link, you should see a screen that asks you to enter the meeting ID, like this:

That is where you type in our meeting ID , which is 814 6035 2070 4. You will then see a screen which asks you to enter the meeting password, like this:

That is where you type in our meeting password , which is    759287   5. Then, click the blue Join Meeting button. ======= Because this meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, you wont be able to actually join until then. Calie and I will be logging in around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, if you want to go a little early. After we all do this a few times, it will seem easy!
