📓First Friday Book Club📓 Notes from 10.5.18 meeting

Greetings, bookies!

Thanks to all who attended and participated in our October 5 meeting. "To Kill a Mockingbird" provided a rich source of ideas and we shared a range of opinions, experiences and responses to the novel. Some of us had not read this before, others of us enjoyed the re-visit and most of us agreed that Gregory Peck is Atticus Finch, now and forever. Some classics remain classics, after all.

Next month, our book is "God Save Texas: A Journey into the Soul of the Lone Star State" by Lawrence Wright.

A link to the publishers site (with an excerpt) is here:  http://tinyurl.com/y9dculrb Some reviews:

This was published in 2018 and is not yet in paperback. Several of you found it challenging to locate a copy in local library collections, so I wanted to mention that I have access to a free PDF version  (a format which should work on most ebook readers). If anyone needs a free "reading copy", please email me and I will send you the link. (The "borrowed" PDF file will only be active for 30 days.)

McKinney Public owns two copies but they are both checked out as of October 7. :-(However, Collin College Library owns five copies and three are available as of October 7.You can request any item in their collection be sent to the McKinney campus. Two of the copies are in Frisco as of today. The McKinney campus library is at 2200 W. University Dr.  at 972.548.6860
