Greetings, First Friday Book Club Members:
A few literary quotes to get us started:
"In the face of an obstacle which is impossible to overcome, stubbornness is stupid." ~ Simone de Beauvoir
"There are times in life when people must know when not to let go. Balloons are designed to teach small children this." ~ Terry Pratchett
"If your plan isn't working, adjust your plan. But never give up." ~ Doris Lessing
=================================
Our May 1 meeting, like so many other pleasurable events this year, will apparently not happen as we had hoped.
After a wave of technical shenanigans, our Zoom calls will also be on hiatus for awhile (as my modest office system was never configured to host a growing tribe like ours.)
So - what are a band of dedicated readers to do for the next month, you may ask?
Ah, ha! The perfect moment to gather our reading lists for 2021, of course.
First, we need to accumulate some titles.
Then, we need to vote (online, of course.)
Step 1: Make a list of titles you want to read and send them to me before May 1st.
Between us, we will need to accumulate:
3 biographies
2 mysteries
2 historical fiction
3 non-fiction
2 fiction
You do not need to select everything in all categories, of course - but you are encouraged to submit as many selections as you like!

Simply email me your list of possible titles for 2021 by midnight on Thursday, April 30 .

Step 2: Watch for the ballot email from me and vote online for your choices.
The ballot itself will be a very simple online survey, which wont require you to join anything. I'll send the ballot over the weekend of May 2-3 Then I'll send results to everyone on Friday May 8. What could be simpler?
Optimism doesn't mean that everything will always work out or that you won't suffer. But pessimism forces you to suffer before the fact. ~ Margaret Thatcher The beginning is always today. ~ Mary Wollstonecraft
